Arrikrutz, the Caves of Oñati
Located in the heart of the Aizkorri mountain range, Arrikrutz was sculpted over centuries of erosion of water on rock. To visit the caves we recommend one of the following three options: Espeleo-Arrikrutz, a 3.5-hour guided tour for adults 18 and over. Arditurri, a mining experience
The Arditurri Mines are located in the depths of the Aiako Harria mountains (Peñas de Aia in Spanish), in the municipality of Oiartzun. Mining operations began in Roman times and continued almost uninterruptedly for over 2,000 years, producing silver, lead, flurorite and iron. A visit to the heart of the mines of Arditurri is a journey through time. Visitors will feel the magical atmosphere inside as they learn about the different periods in the history of these mines.
Ekainberri, Basque cave art
Ekainberri, the magnificent replica of the original Ekain cave, is located in the beautiful Sastarrain valley in the municipality of Zestoa, not far from San Sebastian. Ekainberri boasts the most spectacular cave paintings on the Basque coast. Embark on a journey to the origins of Basque culture at this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
